The Kaos Coffee Table draws inspiration from the extreme landscapes of Iceland, where the designers reside. The constantly shifting forms of glaciers and volcanoes served as the muse for this unique piece. The table top and shelf mimic the chaotic patterns found in nature, reminding us of the ever-changing beauty of the Icelandic landscape.
What sets the Kaos Coffee Table apart is its ability to function as both a table and a sculpture. The abstract pattern and varying angles create a visually striking piece that adds a touch of elegance to any living room or TV lounge. The different forms of the table top and shelf also provide convenient storage space for magazines, remote controls, and other essentials.
Assembly of the Kaos Coffee Table is a breeze, taking only two to three minutes. The table is held together by two bolts with circled nuts and two rods, which not only provide stability but also serve as an important visual element of the design. This unconventional approach to structure adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the table.
The Kaos Coffee Table is crafted using high-quality materials. The table top is made of 30mm plywood coated with a high gloss plastic finish, although options such as granite or high gloss painted MDF can also be used. The shelf is made of 19mm plywood with the same high gloss plastic coating. The table legs are constructed from polycoated 11mm steel, ensuring durability and stability.
With dimensions of 130.0cm in length, 75.5cm in width, and a height of 41.5cm, the Kaos Coffee Table is designed to fit seamlessly into any space. It comes packaged in a convenient cardboard box measuring 140 x 80 x 12cm, making it easy to transport and assemble.
The Kaos Coffee Table has garnered recognition for its outstanding design. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
The Kaos Coffee Table is not just a piece of furniture; it is a work of art that adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any living space. With its unique design, easy assembly, and functional features, it is sure to be a conversation starter and a focal point in any room.
